Skywatch Friday - Winter Solstice Edition

20091213_9

Yesterday, Wednesday, was the Winter Solstice, the shortest day of the year and the beginning of winter. So for those of us in the northern hemisphere it is going to get colder and colder. Fortunately for us Skywatchers there are plenty of participants in the southern hemisphere and more tropical areas and we are depending on them to show us lots of pictures of warm skies, with sunny sandy beaches. I guess that is just kind of Skywatcher Karma.

This is also the last Skywatch Friday post before Christmas and so I wish Merry Christmas to those who celebrate the holiday and to everybody else have a great weekend and we'll see next week.
